Hello again Phil,

I'm going to make a new video about how to practice to strengthen your voice. Its really the only exercise you will need, but you do need to actually do the exercise often, not just one time, or every 6 months, in order to get results.

The one thing I did learn is that there are two separate areas in vocal development. One is to strengthen your vocal mechanism. The second is to train your ear. Too often both are combined at the same time and that makes developing your voice nearly impossible.

Golden rule.....The ear is to singing as the eye is to writing...

I found out that you need to have a "developed" voice first, through the exercise I'll be putting up. Its the counting exercise I already have posted, but I'm going to do it in video with a lot more explaination and lots of new information and a change to the technique. Actually it will be a series of videos, so you dont have to repeat basics information once you get going.

Then, when you have your vocal condition up to speed to some extent, you can then start trainging your voice to your ear (otherwise known as singing on pitch).

I have a program, singing coach, and it  records your pitch real time as you sing scales to "Me, May, Mi, Moe, Moo". If you are off pitch the display shows you. After doing the counting exercise for almost 3 years now, I'm able to stay on pitch, and its easy, cause I have a stronger voice mechanism.  If you try to train your ear first, you'll have a tough time cause you physically won't be able to stay on pitch, or it will be a big struggle.

Great collection of videos.  I have Jaco's book, but I have a hard time getting through the material.  I purchased the DVD as well, but I'm not sure how well the two compliment each other.  Anyway, seeing as you're one of the few Feuchtinger students out there, I thought I might ask a few questions.  I hope you don't mind.

I have mastered the tongue groove, but I can't get the palate to hold down or the uvula to contract.  Do you have any suggestions on how to isolate all three points of the vocal attack?

Also, I'm a former SLS student (it didn't seem to work out very well).  I'm having a hard time thinking about singing outside the register/passagio methods.  Do you have any suggestions on how to deal with these issues?

Anyway... thank you so much for providing examples of Jaco's method.  Cheers.
